Family Ambassador Program

You can engage in your child’s learning at home and school in many ways. This includes getting involved with the school council. The school council provides advice on school matters and helps to strengthen the important relationship between schools, families and their communities. The council includes family members, school staff and community members.

At the beginning of the school year, parents/guardians have the opportunity to become a voting member of council. If you are interested, or would like to nominate someone, fill out the School Council Nomination Form that will be part of your start-up forms by September 26, 2025

Check out our Family Ambassador Program brochures! These will be updated early this fall with new and returning volunteers.Consider joining as an ambassador to support new families to Bond Lake especially if your home language is not listed. This will allow for the school community to reach more families. Please email tammy.dillon@yrdsb.ca to express your interest.

Meet the Staff Event - Reminder!: We look forward to welcoming our new and returning families to the school from 6:00-7:30 pm on Thursday, September 25 for our Meet the Staff evening. Please save the date and plan to join us!

Student Pick-Up: A reminder to all families that the end of the school day is a very busy time and all staff are actively engaged in supporting students to prepare for the transition home. To help ensure student safety, we ask that parents/guardians not pick students up between 2:00-2:25 pm.

Instructional Time: In partnership with our parent/guardian community, we work very hard at Bond Lake PS to avoid interruptions to instructional time. To that end, we ask families to please ensure that students come to school with all of the belongings that they need for the school day (e.g., water bottles, lunches, homework, gym clothes, outdoor clothing etc.). Please avoid drop-offs to the office during the school day. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Safe School Zone -  To help ensure a safe school zone, we ask all families to please review our Safe School Zone Guidelines. We understand that families lead busy lives and that drop off and pick up times can present challenges to our daily routines. Where possible, we encourage all families to engage in active school travel by walking, wheeling or bussing to school. This reduces the number of vehicles and helps to create a safer space. If you must drive, to ensure the safety of our students, staff and families, please follow the guideline below.

Parking in the Community

If you choose to park in the community:

  • Make use of our ‘Drive to 5’ map which outlines available parking within a five minute walk to school.
  • Park only where permitted, being respectful of our neighbours and not blocking driveways.
  • Ensure students exit the vehicle safely, travel on sidewalks and cross at crosswalks.
  • Do NOT park near entrances/exits to the bus loop, Kiss and Ride or Parking Lot.
  • Ensure students enter the school zone safely crossing only at the designated crosswalk.

Parking in the Parking Lot

If you choose to park in our parking lot:

  • Enter the parking lot attentively and drive slowly.
  • Park your vehicle in a designated parking spot.
  • Use Accessible parking only with a valid permit.
  • Walk your child(ren) to the crosswalk where the staff member on duty can help them cross safely. Do not cross anywhere else as visibility can be limited by moving vehicles.
  • No students are permitted to cross the parking lot unsupervised by a parent/guardian. If your child is old enough to walk alone, please use the  ‘Drive to 5’ map and park in the community.

Using the Kiss and Ride

If you choose to use our Kiss and Ride:

  • Arrive at the Kiss and Ride as early as possible when there is less vehicle traffic.  Staff are on duty starting at 7:50am!
  • Enter the Kiss and Ride attentively and drive slowly.
  • Obey the signals of the staff member at our Crosswalk.
  • Pack your patience and proceed as directed by staff to our designated ‘Drop Zone’.
  • Ensure that students only exit your vehicle once you are safely parked in the ‘Drop Zone’.
  • Stay in your vehicle and allow staff to assist you child(ren) to exit the vehicle and make their way into the school.

Thank you for your support to help keep our staff, students and families safe!

Safe Ball Play: We have been working hard in our school yard to ensure safe ball play at recess time and to reduce ball strike injuries. To help, we have designated specific areas for basketball and soccer using pylons and remind students regularly through announcements. Parents/guardians are asked to check out our Safe Ball Play map and to chat with their student(s) to reinforce rules.
