Iftar Night at Richmond Green SS: Our wonderful education partners from Richmond Green Secondary School have invited all Bond Lake PS students, families and staff to join them for their Iftar Night. The event will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 5:30pm at Richmond Green SS and will include catering from the Kebab Shoppe.

Please see the flyer for all the details. Tickets for the events are $10 per person and can be purchased on School Cash Online until February 23, 2026. Let’s share happiness and enjoy moments of togetherness. We hope to see you there!

Late Arrivals: We have an extremely high number of students arriving to school late on a regular basis. As you know, supervision begins at 7:50am when students are invited to come into the school building and our school day starts at 8:05am. When students arrive late, they miss out on important learning which may impact their academic success, and they also disturb the learning of other students who did arrive on time. We recognize the challenges that early mornings create for families but ask for your partnership in beginning to make improvements.

As a school community, we are doing our part to help. We offer:

  • Positive Reinforcement: Educators celebrate responsibility and offer verbal praise to students who arrive on time.
  • Engaging Start: We offer a "soft entry" allowing students to enter the school 15 minutes before the start of their day to transition slowly and ensure that morning activities in our classrooms are engaging.
  • Clear Routines: Our educators at Bond Lake PS establish consistent, predictable morning routines to help students feel secure and prepared to start the day.
  • Visible Cues: We use timers and/or visual schedules that show when the day begins to help students understand timing.
  • Welcoming Environment: We have staff on duty outside, in our Kiss and Ride and in the hallways to ensure that students are greeted as they enter the school. The hope is to make arriving on time a positive experience.

We need your help as parents/guardians to get your child(ren) to school on time and set a positive example. Consider the steps below and put some new strategies into practice:

  • Prep the Night Before: Pack school bags, lay out outfits, and prepare lunches before bed to reduce morning chaos.
  • Establish Consistent Routines: Stick to a regular, early bedtime to ensure children are well-rested.
  • Foster Independence: Provide students with their own alarm clock and encourage them to be responsible for waking up.
  • Reduce Morning Stress: Eliminate TV or screen time in the morning to keep focus on getting ready.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Offer small incentives or praise for consistent on-time arrivals to build good habits.
  • Logical Consequences: Allow children to experience the consequences of being late (e.g., missing part of breakfast, losing free time) to encourage responsibility.
  • Open Communication: Discuss any underlying anxieties about school with educators, as anxiety or other worries can cause school avoidance.
  • Plan Ahead: Set a firm "leave the house" time and stick to it, regardless of whether children are fully ready (e.g., leaving with shoes in hand).

Building Ontario - School Facility Renewal Banner: Community members may have noticed that a blue banner has been installed at the front of the school indicating that a School Facility Renewal Project will be taking place at our school. This project will include the replacement of asphalt in our parking lot and concrete sidewalks around the school and will take place during the summer months.

Kindergarten Registration: A reminder that kindergarten registration is now open. Please see the Kindergarten Registration page of the YRDSB website for all the details.

York Region Public Health: Please view the following York Region Public Health communication regarding active Flu Season in York Region. See Letter.

Winter Walk Day: Wednesday February 4th, 2026 is Winter Walk Day! Winter Walk Day is a great time for students and our families to be active outdoors, and enjoy its  physical and mental health benefits. Take a look at the Let’s GET Walking Poster.

Coffee, Conversation & Community: New this year at Bond Lake from your BLPS School Council…Coffee, Conversation and Community!

What is it? It is a casual drop-in session that allows parents/guardians who are interested in becoming more involved in their child’s school community to come together with other parents, staff, and administration to discuss the joys and challenges of parenting, ideas for future gatherings to help foster an even stronger school community at Bond Lake, and other topics of interest.

Why now? In our busy modern world, we have lost the “village” that previous generations could rely on to help raise healthy, happy and resilient children. We are trying to make our own “village” at Bond Lake so that we have a greater sense of belonging and community.

When? We are hosting 2 dates to meet in person and virtually on the following dates/times:

Please use the links above to RSVP for the events. Come with ideas or come just for the coffee! Everyone is welcome.
