School Council Corner | Family Ambassador Program | |
You can engage in your child’s learning at home and school in many ways. This includes getting involved with the school council. The school council provides advice on school matters and helps to strengthen the important relationship between schools, families and their communities. The council includes family members, school staff and community members.
We will meet next on Monday, February 2. Our meetings are virtual and all are welcome! |
Check out our Family Ambassador Program brochures! These will be updated early this fall with new and returning volunteers.Consider joining as an ambassador to support new families to Bond Lake especially if your home language is not listed. This will allow for the school community to reach more families. Please email tammy.dillon@yrdsb.ca to express your interest.

Food Drive for the Richmond Hill Food Bank - Reminder! This holiday season, the Grade 6 students have taken a leadership role in starting a food donation box to collect items for the Richmond Hill Food Bank. From Friday, December 5th to Wednesday, December 17th, donation boxes (painted with a hungry caterpillar) will be available in the front foyer (right beside the office) for all donations of NON-perishable items. Please see the detailed letter written by students to describe the event and share photos of the students’ efforts to encourage donations.
Regional Assessment and Resource Center (RARC) Parent Workshop Series for Grades 7-8 Families:The Parent Workshop Series is a virtual, parent-only program consisting of 3 evening sessions. This program was designed by the Regional Assessment and Resource Centre (RARC) to support students with learning disabilities and ADHD as they transition from elementary to post-secondary school by providing programming to their parents/guardians. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Kiss and Ride/Parking Lot Reminders: Please continue to use caution and care when driving through the Kiss and Ride, and the parking lot. We have seen this week, with the addition of winter driving conditions, unnecessary speeding in the Kiss and Ride, particularly families driving dangerously close to our staff at the crosswalk. Please yield for buses if you are entering the kiss and ride lane; they too, are a part of the community ensure safety of transporting our students to and from school. The safety of both staff and families, and community members are of utmost importance.
Inclement Weather Bus Cancellations and Hot Lunch Cancellations: We had our first bus cancellation this week. When buses are cancelled, it is designated by the York Region District School Board as an inclement weather day. Buses remain cancelled for BOTH morning and afternoon routes. Families will need to make arrangements for pick up. Another reminder to all families that the end of the school day is a very busy time and all staff are actively engaged in supporting students to prepare for the transition home. To help ensure student safety, we ask that parents/guardians not pick students up between 2:00-2:25 pm.
On board designated inclement weather days, all of our hot lunch providers (Pizza Mondays, Greek Astoria Wednesdays and Swiss Chalet Fridays) are cancelled. Families will need to send lunch with your child to school on those days. There are no refunds for lunches due to inclement weather. Hot lunches are a part of the school fundraising plans. ONLY Kids Kitchen (Tuesdays and Thursdays) will deliver when it is a board designated inclement weather day.
